So we just had an experienced Sherlockian / Trekkie (original trekkie/ sherlockian of many years) ask Lyndsay Faye if there could ever be a story where Pon Farr and a time traveling space ship is how Sherlock Holmes came to be.
Excuse me but this is an amazing convention.
Sherlock Series Three is over, and Series Four is waiting in the future. But in the meantime, to tide us all over in the hiatus, something exciting is coming later this year.
SHERLOCKED, the first ever official Sherlock convention dedicated to our favourite BBC series, will take place in 2014 over 3 days. The event will be run by Massive Events in association with Hartswood Films and Showmasters Ltd - a combination of the talents of specialist producers in dedicated fan conventions and the hugely experienced team behind the renowned London Film & Comic Con, and the Sherlock production team. In addition, it is intended to take place in Europe and in the USA.
With this level of behind the scenes experience, SHERLOCKED already looks to be an unprecedented event for fans of the series to attend. The convention has been in the planning since the middle of 2013 ahead of this announcement, and will feature activities, star guests from the cast and crew, talks, photo shoots, autograph sessions and plenty more!
Sherlock’s producer Sue Vertue exclusively told us: "We’re very excited to be announcing our first official Sherlock convention for later in the year, aptly named SHERLOCKED. Massive Events have been pestering me for ages to get a date for this in the schedule but we wanted to make sure that we had the time and energy to make it a great, high quality and fun event, and now we have! Watch this space."
Full details on SHERLOCKED will be revealed in the near future, including dates, locations and venues, and of course the cast and crew that will be attending the convention.
To be among the first to know all that information when it is revealed, head to Massive Events website right now and register your details. You can also follow the Facebook and Twitter accounts for the event, and Sherlockology will be bringing you all the news on this exciting event as it is announced.
About Ready to be #Sherlocked?
Sherlockology has known about the work to get an official convention off the ground for a long time. We first spoke with Massive Events back in 2012 when many fans were asking us to organise a convention for Sherlock, following the release of Series Two. We are not event organisers and prefer to leave that sort of thing to the people who are experts in the field - we felt that if a Sherlock convention was to go ahead, it had to be the best it could be. The one thing we were absolutely certain about was that it had to be official, with the makers of the series involved, so we introduced Massive Events to Hartswood Films and since the middle of 2013 both companies have been working their magic together to bring SHERLOCKED into existence.
We were excited to spend the past week running a teaser campaign across our social media platforms leading to this long awaited announcement. In keeping with the name of the convention, the teasers took inspiration from the famous unlock screen of Irene Adler’s phone in S2E1 A Scandal in Belgravia, with quotes taken from that episode featuring blocked out letters in the style of her password. When each pair of these letters was rearranged come the final day of the teaser campaign, it spelt out CONVENTION. Some extremely clever people worked it out two days ago on Wednesday - if that was you, a truly hearty round of applause.
Thanks as always to Sherlockology for the quick and concise updates; and the always fun teaser campaigns.
We’re all signed up for updates and you can be sure we’ll do what we can to share updates and news on any events here in the US! So thrilled that there are plans for events over here!
Just wanted to pop in and thank you all for still following us. I’m preparing for my Christmas trip back home and super busy, but wanted to make sure I let you know that it is SO appreciated that we still have followers and you are all wonderful, amazing people.
At this time, SherlockNYC is being focused on by me alone; and currently, I am in need of focusing on health and personal issues, but have no fear! I’m thinking up new ideas for meet ups and going to be back on the social media front soon. Keeping up with my favorite podcasts, blogs and news releases for Sherlockian fun, and missing the action terribly! I’m definitely working on focusing on all the positives and good vibes out there! Looking forward to BSI weekend in January here in NYC and OF COURSE, series 3! I’m also really digging Elementary, and making my way through Series 1! Definitely been reading more Canon lately as well… and being inspired for fun times because of ‘new’ stories!
Other members of the team are currently needing to focus on other projects and personal matters; we hope to all be able to get together and work on new things soon!
Also - I’ll be tagging anything to do with footage from Series 3 as #spoilers just in case you lovies are avoiding any discussion / gifs / art, etc. I’ll do my very best to keep those folks who want to be in the dark, safely there. Just viewed the mini-episode and I’m afraid I can’t hold back my feels.
My health has been improving, and I hope to be active again once the holidays are over. If you’d like to help out, please send me an email at email@example.com! From brainstorming to fund-raising ideas (reminder: we are non-profit and all events have historically been personally funded and reimbursed by ticket sales alone) or volunteering to help with social media or events, I’d love to have some help in getting back into the action!
So again. Thank you all so much for your support! Wishing you and yours all the best this Holiday Season.
